How can I change a virtual email user's password without using control panel. I have a customer that I've told to get off the server some time ago and he is still on it. It is an old FreeBSD server. It looks like he went on a vacation and is not attaching encrypted with his email and someone has his password.

You might want to try this:

directadmin change email password command line - Server 24/7

grep user /etc/virtual/somedomain.com/passwd user:$1$saltsalt$axvmnqdjkdE/BsPlbO6H/.:666:21::/home/web1/imap/somedomain.com/user:/bin/false openssl passwd -1 -salt saltsalt KuX0oisaigoowe $1$saltsalt$axvmnqdjkdE/BsPlbO6H/. Random password was set to: KuX0oisaigoowe This MD5-Crypt hash

at your own risk ofcourse.

However, if the user should be of the server, why not just delete his account and home dir?
