Hello,

i find the character of da is iso-8859-1,

how can i change it to utf-8 ?

will it make da any wrong ?

because my language can not work under iso-8859-1 well,

and i need utf-8 to run it.

thank you

Hello,

You're welcome to use any characteset you wish.
The characterset is sepcified in the lanuage packs, so if you change it, it's probably best to start a new language, or else you'll have to update the charset after each DA update (which might be simpler than managing an entire new language pack.. up to you)

The file that contains the charset is:
lang/en/lf_standard.html

LANG_ENCODING=iso-8859-1

Hello,

i do not ubderstand very clearly.

if i add my own language with utf-8,

and add my own skin,

after directadmin upgrating,

will my customized language/character/skin be gone?

or they will still be there ?

thank you

Hello,

If you already have your own language pack, then it will be safe.

Only if you edit the "en" language would you need to worry about it being overwritten.

Hello,

my own new skin will be safe even directadmin upgrating, too?

thank you

Hello,

but i have a question,

the new version will not cover my old files of my customized ones.

if the new version add new item/sentence,

my old translated language files will not include the new item/sentence,

by the way,

how can i add the new ones ?

thank you

If you have your own skin that isn't called enhanced, power_user, or default, then it's safe from update overwrites.

Only files that exist in the update.tar.gz, when extracted, will overwrite their old-selves. So if you create a new file for your custom text, then that new file is safe. If you edit a file in a DA skin that came with the DA install, then it will be ovewritten when the update.tar.gz is extracted with the new version. If you create your own language pack in your own skin, or a DA skin.. as long as it's not an "en" language, then since yours is not in the update.tar.gz (which only has en) it would not get overwritten... so your own language packs will remain untouched with updates.

Hello,

yes,i could understand my custom files will not be covered after upgrating.

but i my question is that,

if my comtom language only has 592 items/sentences,

but the new version of "en" has add other items/sentences,and become to 621 ones,

by the way,

my comtom language will not include the new 29 items/sentences.

in this situation,

i will need to compare my old comtom language with new "en" one,

and add the new ones ?

or any way to update the new items/sentences?

hope you can understand my poor english.

thank you for your patience.

thank you

If we add more text entries in ours, then if you have not yet updated your language pack, you will see "none" for standard skin entries until you add them to your language pack. For "internal" skin entires, if they are missing from yours, DA will fall back to the default files and show the english text for the missing entries.

You're probably asking in the wrong place; these forums are used by server administrators using DirectAdmin software to manage webhosting servers. For information on installing a specific package on your website you'd be better off finding a forum dedicated to support on that package.

May I have a suggestion? could you add a new line in directadmin option in next verion, so we can edit/update directadmin encode without change lang/en/lf_standard.html???

EX: /usr/local/directadmin/conf/directadmin.cnf
and we can edit this file to edit/change encode, so even next update, this will not rewrite our setting and edit it again and again, this will help a lot, thank you
