How do I assign an IP to a single domain?

Hi,

I'm going to buy an SSL certificate for one of my domain. As far as I've understood I need a dedicated IP for that domain (which is actually a subdomain). I added a free IP to DirectAdmin via IP management in the admin area and I've assigned that IP to myself (user admin).

Do I have to manually modify the virtual host conf for that domain, or is there any way to do it via DirectAdmin?

Cheers,
Francesco

Hello,

You should create a new account (add user) in directadmin with dedicated (private) IP with a domain (which is actually a subdomain).

Related: http://www.site-helper.com/ssl.html

Still, there's something I don't understand about it.

If I create a new user, since I need the subdomain on ssl, the user has to have the main domain, too, otherwise it won't allow me to create a new subdomain for that domain. Isn't it?

But in this case, again, I'll have two website on the same reserved ip address, so SSL won't work the same. :(

To clarify... for some time now DirectAdmin has allowed a user to have more than one IP#, and always more than one domain.

That's the best way to do it; no manual intervention require.

That's all true, if you've got enabled

Code:
check_subdomain_owner=1

It is "Check domain owner for Subdomain creation" option on Administrator settings page in Directadmin.

Just disable it temporary and create an user with a sub-domain, later you'll be able to enable it back.

Sorry, I'm not sure I got what you're saying.

I've done it as zEitEr suggested with a separate user with a different ip. It's working.

Was it possible to do it differently? How?
