Google is probably one of the most sophisticated search engines out there. If you aren't listed on Google, then you don't exist. I'm very familiar with the way Google works and thinks and it's not like any other search engine out there. Google is based mostly on a page’s relativity. If Google thinks the page is relative, the higher your placement.

So how does it figure your pages relativity over someone else? Simple, it takes other pages similar to yours, and sees how many links go to your site. If all the other pages are relative to what your page has, it will place higher. When I go to Google right now and type web host, it pulls Fortune City, a Great Britain company as number one. Why? When I go to see what relative pages link to it, I get about 90,800 (http://www.google.com/search?as_lq=www.fortunecity.com&btnG=Search)

Now let’s analyze #2 for "web host". Which is www.webhostdir.com? Only 1,260 pages link to this site, however because they also link to many other web host related search topics, and are very relative to our search, it's still in the top 10.

In short, the best way for Google to find your site is to probably list it in a directory, ie if you're a web host, list it at www.webhostdir.com. If you are an amusement park, list it somewhere relative to amusement parks. You can also read this article http://www.google.com/webmasters/1.html which would be of use. If you decide to list it on another relative site or manually submit it, Google will find it. Some sites take longer than others. If I were you I would let Google find it on its own which would give you a higher ranking.

Hopefully this answers your questions and then some.
