How do you have DA setup

I finally got DA setup. How do you do you have your company setup in terms of selling end user accounts and reseller accounts?

I assume I am essentially setting up two "groups" or "companies:" in which in one I am the resller to end users and in the other, I just sell to end users?

Am I making sense? :)

Your question makes perfect sense to me! I have the same question :)

I hope to finally get a machine setup this weekend to put my first install of DA on. I don't actually expect to have many resellers at this time, mostly just my own direct customers.

I am wondering if I should set myself up as a reseller now just to avoid any issues at a later date.

I also wonder if I can change an existing reseller package after there are already accounts in it.

We choose to set up our own reseller account on each DA server.

Others use the reseller panel of the admin login.

It's your choice.

Yes, you can change packages whenever you want.

But... once user accounts and reseller accounts are created they won't change just because youve changed the package. They'll stay exactly as you set them up, whether that was a direct copy of a package, or you made changes.

Sorry but what is the basic difference between both setups? Sorry I just haven't grasped the basic difference.

I'm not sure what you're looking for in a difference.

The admin reseller control panel is an unlimited reseller. Resellers you set up are limited by whatever you set up in the template you use to create the reseller account.

And of course the admin reseller control panel doesn't require a separate password, so it should only be used if everyone who needs access to the accounts can be trusted with the admin password.

Which is why we use separate resellers; we want the flexibility of later hiring someone to manage a reseller account without have to let them have admin access.

Jeff,

Thanks for the info. Makes sense as you mention to have a reseller account in case I had someone I wanted to be able to manage the end user accounts without giving them access to the whole server.

The thing I was wondering about in regards to changing packages is if I created a reseller package for my accounts and then needed to increase one or more of the limits - could I do that. Or is there a way for me to make that package unlimited, but also not allow other resellers to sign up for the unlimited package?

You can, but for the resellers accounts alrady set up from that package you'd have to change them manually. There is no dynamic connections between accounts and the packages they were created from. The packages are simply templates used to set up the account.

When you set up a reseller you can define the packages s/he uses.[/quote]

Or am I missing something in your question?
