hi, how long does subdomain usually take to be delegated to the user's end?

is it possible to make this delegation happen instantly so user doesn't have to wait up to 15 minutes to an hour?

Hi Jlasman

Im sorry but it seems that is not what is happening on our servers.

Btw, I'm using "Add Domain" , and not "Add subdomain" to create the subdomain as I want to create a separate folder in the domains/ folder (/home/funsite/user1.funsite.com, rather than a subfolder in the public_html/ folder (/home/funsite/domains/funsite.com/public_html/user1). This way, it also gives me access to add a domain pointer to it later on and such via the directadmin.

Could this be why its taking more time? Or do i have to do something to my TTL settings?

Just because you added it doesnt me the dns was added for that host. You have to manually setup the dns.

You shouldn't have to set up manual DNS if the subdomain was added to the same server.

If the subdomain was not added to the same server then you need to add NS records pointing to the nameservers on the server on which you added the subdomain.

If none of this is working for you then post the domain name and the subdomain name so we can do some tracing.

i'm not quite following you on that.
because it does work but i have to wait like a good 15-30 minutes for the subdomain to resolve. almost like i have to wait for dns propagation.

but does subdomains also need to wait for propagations?

btw, when right after i create that subdomain, and i try to access that subdomain, it doesnt work. but, when i use a proxy site like unblocked.org, it works there. does this mean this is a problem with my ISP? i use att and comcast, both major isp's btw.

Yes, the problem is with your ISP; they're caching some DNS. So you have to wait a bit for propagation. Fifteen to 30 minutes is NOT a long time.
