Hello everyone, it will be my first time to use Almalinux from the good things I heard about. However, all the help will be appreciated.

How long does it take to upgrade Almalinux 9? I know Version 9 will have active support until 31 May 2027, and security support until 31 May 2032., which will be a very long time.
do you really keep your server like that long before going to the next version?

I am using Heatzner, and the image of ALmalinu comes ready and installed. Do I need to add anything more before or after Direct admin? any advice and recommendation
Keep in mind I am using it for simple WordPress E-commerce sites and blogs email marketing, nothing serious. and
Thank you All

Hi,

Normally you would upgrade / update to an other OS because it's EOL, so yes theoretical you can keep it till 2032.
What to do is indeed install it with the hetzner installer, make sure you setup your raid how you like it.
After that do yum upgrade, and do all the upgrades.
Then install and enjoy :-)
Might have to manually setup ipv6 (not sure)

Next to the above advise, if you want to use your own hostname and not the server.ip-adr-es-here.da.direct then be sure you set the hostname before installing Directadmin. If done correctly, DA will take it over automatically.
Doublecheck afterwards, you might still need to create the seperate hostname DNS zone (if you use the hostname that way) and check the /etc/virtual/ directory afterwards for the existing of the hostname directory too.

Check after setting up the hostname (can be done with hostnamectl) that indeed /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname have the full FQD hostname, so not domain.com but server.domain.com present.

Also it might be good (not required at this moment, but wise) to set the correct timezone before you install. This can be done with the timedatectl command.
