Hi

Can someone give hint, how to restore DirectAdmin users and resellers from System backup?

I was only system backup when VAServe was hacked and now I have small problem, how to restore my system in new VPS.

I restored all files and databases, I copyd most needed /etc files back and also /usr/local/directadmin/data/users files. But DA doesn't show me the old users and their datas. I tested - all old users can login to DA and can see their old datas, databases emails etc. But when I am login as admin - I don't see any users or reseller.

What I am missing?

Now I can see from Show All Users panel all my users.

I get the servers again up, apache, mysql etc working. DNS pointing to new IP-s.

But I can't see restored users at Admin Backup/Transfer, or I can't see my resellers/administrators at List Resellers/List Administrators

So something is not restored or needs to be recreated, but I can't understand, what.

You should not be using system backup. You should use admin backups.

With Admin Backups - you need to have fully working server. Yes it is easy then restore everything.

But when You have lot of modifications at Your system, then is system backup better. Restoring is little bit complicated, but You can bring back every customization.
Very good is system backup after same server crash to restore fast everything.
