How to acces domain

After I make a new domain, is there a way to access this domain through the ip address? So something like how you can use ip/~username, but now only for a domain.

Is it the detected IP for the domain?
What do you want to do exactly?

As chatwizrd points out, change the hosts file on your local system so your browser will point to the site on the server at the new IP# instead of by following DNS.

That's a very old knowledgebase article. I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) that with current versions of DirectAdmin this won't work for most (all?) sites because apache will try to run them as the apache user rather than as the site user, and won't have access to them.

Am I wrong?
