Hello i added this line : domains/example.com/public_html/wp-content/test
In file : /home/admin/.backup_exclude_paths
allow_backup_exclude_path=1 in /usr/local/directadmin/conf/directadmin.conf
And daily backup still add this directory to the backup file
What i missing ?

Does the daily backup also include contents in the directory? I'm not familiar with how this works, but it's possible the directory itself is included in the backup, but not content under it.

Hi,
I know this is an older topic, but I got the exact same situation and problem. Since I don't read a fix here, maybe continue in this topic?

I added allow_backup_exclude_path=1 in /usr/local/directadmin/conf/directadmin.conf
I restarted the services, not sure if this was even needed.

I double checked the path in the .backup_exclude_paths and it's correct and without the home/user/ as described in the instructions:

What am I missing or is this feature broken?

Hi,

I add a file ".backup_exclude_paths" into "home/blablauser.com/".

In this file I got a single line:
/domains/blablauser.com/public_html/images/thumbnails

The backup however, simply contains the directory with all the files.

Very sharp Jamgames!

Such a simple thing. I checked again and indeed this is how the instructions describe it. I mistake it, because I looked at the line below that talks about: "so that the path: /home/username/domains/domain.com/awstats is skipped from the backup."

Solved: make sure it's a relative path without the first slash.
