How to install mod_auth_mysql

I want to install mod_auth_mysql on a centos5.5 server running directadmin.

I cannot find any instructions how to install this using custombuild or otherwise, it cannot be installed using yum because it is excluded bij directadmin.

Can someone explain how mod_auth_mysql can be installed?
 
Isn't installation guide, which comes with module sources, working? Usually that would be enough to install the module.
 
The only instructions i can find is a yum install and that does not work....

I cannot find any other installation method.
