I bought an additional domain name '.com' while I had already '.net.' The DNS is set but I see both domains point to the same wordpress installation. This was not what I wanted to do, I wanted .net to point to a wordpress installation and .com to an ecommerce that isn' installed yet.

When I go to 'domains' in my account I see there is only one map, namely the original domainmap for '.net', so I don't really know where to install my ecommerce.

Do I have to create a new map for .com?
And how do I point the two domains each to their own installations? Is this possible as a domain name points to an ip address and that's the same for both domains.

You need to ask your hosting provider to manage two domains separatly and not add the .com as pointer.

Prolly you payd for a redirect, but, a second domain should be consider a second hosting.

Just your hosting provider can change this.

If you wanna make a test, go to domain pointer, remove the .com and go to domain administration and check if you can add the .com domain.

They did it even without wanting me to buy an additional account. Now I have two maps in my map 'domains', one for each account. Strange that both domains have exactly the same DNS.
That test I didn't do because the next time I looked at the DNS it had changed and I would have too much work to redo everything afterwards and was afraid to make a mistake because then I have to ask them to fix it for me.

The fact that DNS point to same IP is not important, just mean is a shared hosting.

Every domain now will point to their own path so you can have two different wordpress on each domain.
