How to point a subdomain to another host ?

Hi,
I have a domain example.com hosted in server1, I need to create a subdomain directory.example.com and make it point to server2, the first sever is a shared server with directadmin, the second server is a dedicated server with plesk , both are bought from the same hosting company
When I asked my hosting company who tell me either to pay for it,or to do it myself by adding a dns record of type A in directadmin with the subdomain(should I add just directory or directory.example.com ?) and the ip of server2, and to create directory.example.com in server 2 with plesk, (not the main domain example.com which is still in server 1).
I did that and after more than 3 hours there is still nothing when I go to directory.example.com.
My question is : should I add just directory or directory.example.com in directadmin ? it differs between tutorials and I have added both to be sure

· Create in dns administration the record under your domain example.com

directory A 111.222.333.444

· Where 111.222.333.444 is the ip of the server2

· Reload named or your dns server at directadmin server

· Create the domain directory.example.com as primary domain in server2 plesk panel

that should work in a couple of minutes.

· If you add directory.example.com in DNS records at server1, be shure to add a dot at the end

directory.example.com.

If you don't do this way you will have your domain directory.example.com.example.com pointing the IP.

How can I relaod DNS server in directadmin, it's on a shared hosting and I don't have ssh access ?
I have done all the other steps but nothing new.
