How to set a CNAME

Ok, thanks. "Canonical" meaning "conforming to the rules" and not "according to church law", I assume.

But how to set one in DirectAdmin ?

The DNS page now reads
NAME stayput.bigcartel.com’
CNAME stayput.com.au

shouldn't it be the other way around?

!!

I did not get this part. What do you mean by that?

Note, keep in mind to use dots. When adding stayput.bigcartel.com you should add it with a finishing dot
stayput.bigcartel.com.
.

I just thought that logically it should be the other way around. stayput is the website NAME and cartel-etc is the canonical name it's linked to.

But, you are saying it's right like that?

As for the final full stop, I did not put one in. So I guess I need to remove the CNAME and then put it in again correctly.

How do I test to see if these things work?

Regards

I know I'm late

Hey Thanks for the advice on the set-up. I did everything you said on the re directs but for some reason when I go into my google dashboard it doesn't allow me to get into the inbox. I am not an IT guy by any means is there something I am still doing wrong?

If you're doing something wrong it's with Google. MX changes send the mail to Google, but nothing DirectAdmin does controls it.
