Hello, i have a problem with setting up nameservers with direct admin

I have 2 IP adresses and i lease a server but without support.

The hostingcompany put their gateway as Nameserver 2

If i want to add a dutch domain (.nl) then i get the error that both the nameserver are broken but if i add a .com domain it works fine.

How can i setup the nameservers so it also works with dutch domains ?

Help greatly appreciated !

The .nl root registry doesn't allow you to use nameservers unless the domain is already set up at them.

So the problem you're having means that the nameservers are somehow broken.

You haven't given us any real domain information so we can't help you further.

Hi Jeff,

I have the same problem.

The server is running perfectly with about 100 .be and .com domains. When I want to register a .nl; SIDN says my nameservers aren't configured properly...

the nameservers are:
ns1.it4pro-server1.be
ns2.it4pro-server1.be

Thanx in advance for any help!

Have you already added the domain to the nameservers? What is the domain?

Do you mean it4pro-server1.be?

The domain I already have registered, but now want to change the namesevers is dirkoellibrandt.nl?

The NL registry won't allow you to use nameservers unless they already work. When you try to add the nameservers the registry tests them first. If they're not already added, the registry won't allow you to use them.

Don't forget you have to register the nameservers themselves with the registry first. How you do that depends on the registrar you're using. This is really a discussion to have with your registrar.

Thank you for the quick answer, Jef!

I understand that SIDN doesn't let me use nameservers that "doesn't work" (they work perfect for other extensions). And Indeed, they have to be registered first in the control panel of the registrar.

So isn't the very first thing to do configuring my nameservers properly so they give no errors at for example dnsstuff.com?

The SIDN nameserver check says:

* primary name server "ns1.it4pro-server1.be."
Error: specified name server is not listed as NS record.
All public name servers for a domain must also be listed as NS records
in the zone of the domain. This domain was specified explicitly
as a name server, but not found in the zone description of the primary
name server. TE.6a

* secondary name server "ns2.it4pro-server1.be."
Info: name server looks correctly configured.

Strange because my DA server is a just standard custombuild setup (+ a few extra's for security). I haven't messed with the standard nameserver setup... ns1 en ns2 are configured identically. for SIDN ns1 is wrong and ns2 is OK?!

A little bit confusing...

A little bit confusing...
For me as well. I don't know the answer and wouldn't know it without logging in and looking. Which, perhaps unfortunately, we charge for. Perhaps someone else will know, or will be willing to help you at no charge.
