/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd stop

all same, all still autostart

Hey,

That is because DirectAdmin is programmed to auto start it if it finds it down.

when you remove the line httpd=ON in
/usr/local/directadmin/data/admin/service.status
does it start again when you stop httpd ?

Hey,

I'd have to look again but, I think in the past I read that Apache needs to be running or else the DA interface won't work.

Again, my memory is fading so I'd have do do some looking to be sure!

Removing the line httpd=ON should stop httpd from being restarted. I don't recall if anything has to be restarted or not.

I don't see why DA itself would care if your httpd daemon was running or not; DA runs through it's own webserver; by default on port 2222.

Never happened here. Shouldn't be able to happen, based on DA architecture.

The only thing I can think of is that the page was written early in the DA design phase and at that point they might have been using the apache httpd server isntead of their own.

You can always ask them.

:)
