How to test a server

Hi, I just taken a reseller plan, and before offer it to my clients I've moved some pages and I'm doing some tests. Anyway I wonder if there is any way to do tests to see the responses from a server. One of my clients (first want to move) is currently hosted with Hostgator, and I wish I could do a test to the server where it is now to compare with the one I'm going to offer, to know that what I offer you is similar ....

Can anything be done?

You can upload a php test script (with html output) to both sites. But that won't really tell you anything about data transit differences.

Why not just copy his site up to your new resller account, then point to it in your hosts file, and you can try it on his site, for more of a real-world example?
