How to upgrade my PHP version so I can use wordpress

First off I am completely new at all of this! We have a site at my office with a domain name. I go to www.sitename.com/cp and log into direct admin. It says that I am running direct admin version 1.40.3. Well I read a thread stating how to update the direct admin on a windows cpu but our site is not hosted on our cpu server. I do not know what file to look for in the direct admin page or anything! I am lost! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Does you have admin access to directadmin? And root access to ssh?

Yes I have access to direct admin! I do not know what ssh is! I am using filezilla for the transfers. When I log onto direct admin i get the attached screen.

That's a user login; you can't do anything about our version of PHP because you're not the server administrator. You should contact your hosting company.
