I cannot download backup to my pc HELP !

I am new to this thing and have a difficulty downloading back up file. Every time I clicked on the file backup-Apr....... the pop up window always shows backup-Apr..taz.gz could not be download Message number 1.

What should I do please help me :(

do it this way...

open internet explorer, IE is My favorite, most other browsers do not do this as graphically.
Type in ftp://yoursite.com
you will be prompted for a username and password, this is the same as you use for your DA control panel.
once it lets you in you will see icons, one will be called "backups", click on this to open it, once it is opened, find the backup you want, right click on it and choose copy, then go anywhere you want it on your computer, ie.. desktop, my documents /backup etc, right click again, and it will start to download.
servers have a file called php.ini that we can control the size of file that is uploaded or down loaded through the functions of a program, this method bypasses this.

Download of website backup never completes?

When I go into my DirectAdmin website management software, create a backup of my entire website, then try to download this new backup to my laptop, it starts fine, downloads about 30 Mb of the 126Mb and then all of a sudden - poof - just disappears??

I assumed a timed out issue so played with jumping from level to level in my DirectAdmin every 5 minutes or so just to reset a timed issue but still just disappears??

Suggestions??
 
Use An FTP program

instead of using the file manager, use a program like filezilla you will find your backup in the same area where you find your public_html, but NOT in the public_html
