Greetings,

I ran a system backup, around 20 gb..

Now I am trying to download it, I can download it via ftp. But then if my computer restarts, or the server does which it did twice today.. I have to restarted it again..

I tried to download it via a download manager in FTP, but would return an unauthoized access. Even when I access it via the http straight.. Unauthorized access.

File is Apache grouped and user... chmoded 777!

Is it because its large I cant download it?

Thanks,

Why is your server restarting every day?

not everyday, but these tries I am trying to install some apache mods, and sometimes httpd gets so messy that I have to restart the server..

But I'll wait till im done bothering the server then download it via ftp if i wont be able to do http..

Thanks,

You really haven't given enough detail to see the problem.

To download a file or files via http they have to be in the httpd server data path.

The backups are NOT one monolithic file, but rather a set of files inside a directory; if you're trying to download a directory as if it were a file, of course you'll get an error.

Depending on the size of your backup and the speed of your local connection, of course you might be experiencing long download times which could force you to restart your download after a server reset.

its a gzip file, which is located on public html.

Just like any other files (php/html/images) which is seen by public..

I just think that apache does not support downloads of files that big..

Peace,

Could be.

I would suggest looking into alternative backup options. Perhaps automated to a dedicated backup server for example.

Indeed having the same issue 25 gb + not able to download it via browser for maximum download speed.
I put the .tar.gz file in public_html

Any solutions?

So i found out, that if you go back to USERS -> BACKUPS -> (there is a new option now) Click here for a list of your current backups a new window will open. And here you can click on your backfile and it will start downloading via your browser.

I have a similar problem with downloading a back-up to my computer.

When I click on the list of current back-ups and subsequently on the back-up file (.tar.zst) in the new window that opens, the download results in a page of gibberish in my browser, not like a file/folder or anything like that. Does anyone know 1) if this is normal; and 2) What do I do next? Save it as a webpage? Print it? How do I save it in a way that I can restore it from my computer in case that is ever necessary?

Thank you for yoru help.

1.) Yes, that depends on your browser settings
2.) Configure your browser to not open but download such files

Best way is the way it was always done before, download it via FTP.

Same problem here 😁, if i try download file from file manager , filename will have different name like web page save and not filename.tar.gz / zip

Not normal i think , because in cpanel fmanager this issue not show, i think this not browser settings

Via ftp or direct download url in browser not have any issue
