Hi there,

I have a BIG problem. I can't send email from *@mydomain.info which, is the servers primary name. Can recieve though.

Outlook says your username/password was rejected. I tried using the loginname only as well as with @mydomain.info . Still no go.

Please help.

Regards,
ashagg

It seems a bit curious that you're being asked for a password on outgoing email.

Please post specific examples including your real domain name, the specific error message, exactly what you've got for your smtp and pop email settings.

Jeff

ok.. first up.. my server's REAL domain name is shellcom.info

the pop/smtp settings are as follows :

pop uname : admin (I tried [email protected] also)
pop/smtp server : mail.shellcom.info

Mail to root is forwarded to admin via a .forward

Now when I do a send/recieve, I get all my incoming mail, but when i try to send via this a/c it says : "Your uname/passwd was rejected by the server"

Also, I have made another admin a/c by the name of ashagg, which has a default domain set to monimetal.com. I get duplicate emails from the DA Ticketing System .. one from [email protected] where the link says monimetal.com:2222/tick* and the other from [email protected] where the link says shellcom.info:222/ticket*

strange ??

hope someone can help...

What email client are you using?

What are it's settings for authenticated email?

What from address are you using in the email?

Since I use a linux desktop and KMail I can't help with settings for other email clients, but in general you want no authorization required for outgoing email, and let the POP before SMTP do it's job.

That's the simplest way to do it.

Well, I know for a fact that the settings in the email client are correct. IAC, I tried the POP before SMTP way also..

It's got nothing to do with the email client...

It's something on the server..

IAC, any clues as to the duplicate emails from the Ticketing SYstem in DA ?? I've mentioned the problem in my last post above..

email problem

I also have the same problem. Started on Wednesday. I've updated everything in control panel and downloaded the outlook account settings. I had to uncheck SPA but didnt help. I guess this is a problem at the host end

Just discovered the same problem with FTP server. In other words, password is fine on control panel but doesnt work on anything else

(since windows servers went down, nothing but problems. BRING BACK THE OLD My-iHost SYSTEM)

I am having the same problem with all of my mail accounts on truespode.net

I can receive for all of them but cannot send from any of them.

I could send last week but now I can't and nothing has changed on my end.

Try tailing your mailserver log:

tail -f /var/log/exim/mainlog

while sending the email.

What do you get?

Jeff

Ivan,

If you own the server you log into the shell, and issue the command I wrote.

If it's not your server you need to ask the question of your hosting company as only they can figure it out.
