i have error with FTP

I enter to root and worte

ftp localhost

and the server show me this:

220 ProFTPD 1.3.0rc2 Server ready.
500 AUTH not understood
500 AUTH not understood
KERBEROS_V4 rejected as an authentication type
Name (localhost:root):

After entering the command ftp localhost, you need to provide the username and password for the user. For example, enter the username and password for the root account. I'm confused on what you are trying to do though. Why would you want to FTP to the local box as root? You really should never login to the box via FTP as the root user, since FTP is not secure.

And why would you want to ftp to localhost? That would be transferring files from and to the same machine. Just use the cp command to copy the files.

Hi I have deleted my public map so I can`t nothing anymore.
Can I get back my Public map any way.

Yes just recreate the public_html folder unless your hosting provider restricts your ftp to the public_html.
