Okay... I've been reading through the forums and there is a lot of things that I'm seeing that people are saying, do this or do that. I'm hoping that someone can answer a few questions please:

1. Why is Dovecot better than exim? I see somepeople are saying that it is better to install. I'm new to webservers in general, not just DA, so clarification would be great.

2. How can I setup DA/Apache so that it doesn't return a soft 404. Google says that it can't verify my sites because the 404 is being returned with error code of 200.

3. There was more, but I can't remember them right now. LOL

1. Dovecot uses maildir which is better then mbox which vmpop3d uses. Maildir stores mails in smaller files which improves access time mbox uses one or more larger size files.

2. 404 means that a page cannot be found. You can create custom error pages if you want. It matters what page google is looking for why that error comes up. Make sure that the folder exists on your server. http://site-helper.com/misc.html#404

If I install Dovecot, will I have to re-setup all my mailboxes again, or will it pickup right from where I am now? Also, does Dovecot support IMAP or just POP?

Finally... I looked up the Google error and it is saying that it cannot verify my site because the code that is being returned is 200 (OK) for a file that is non-existent. Right now I have verified my page through the Meta Tag option, but I would rather not do that. They (Google) say that I can re-configure my server to return a status/error code of 404 instead of 200.

Do you know how to do that? I'm not concerned about custom error codes, I would like to have it setup so that the codes are returned properly (ie. 404).

The Dovecot conversion as explained in these forums is a complete conversion; you won't have to do anything else except eventually delete the old mailboxes after you're sure everything is working.

I don't know why you're getting a 202 error for unfound files; My servers return 404.
