Hi all.
One of my clients want full remove directadmin from its server.
I need howto to remove.
Please help me.

It is not does not approach

This solution does not approach. I think exist more easying solution. Or not?

Alot of things are build in DirectAdmin, if you want to remove, you need to remove manually and provided you have study DirectAdmin structure.

It is not good news.

It is not good news. But thanks all for reply me. I will remove directadmin software manualy.

The problem of course is that DirectAdmin installs it's own versions of so many programs, and depending on your OS may even install them in places they're usually not put.

For example, did you realize that proftpd is not only part of the DirectAdmin install, but the DirectAdmin configuration will only work with DirectAdmin?

Similar issues with Apache and other programs.

The problem of course is that you can't easily get from DirectAdmin back to your OS Distribution's standard install.

More help needed.

Hi Jeff,

We are having the same problem and we want to uninstall directadmin. We have been trying to dig around the problem for 3-4 days without great success. We completely understand that directadmin installs its own apache, php, proftpd and many others modules. Nevertheless, I see a solution there. Can we use something like "whereis" command in order to find where all those programs were installed by directadmin? Will it help us? If yes, can we easily remove them manually since we know their locations?

Jeff, I would like to ask you, could you provide us with a list of programs which DirectAdmin installed at our server so that we could delete them all manually and install normal programs (which go with linux distributive) later into their usual locations. We have CentOs4.4 installed and we understand that a number of modules (which DA installs) differs from one system to another. But anyway, more help will be highly appreciated. :)

What else should we check during uninstall?

Thanks,
Paul.

Thanks all

I see only one way to resolve this problem. It is munual remove all directadmin installed software.
Much sting that directadmin not have uninstall script.
Thanks all for answers.

PaulStair,

I didn't write DirectAdmin. But I do run the same OS Distribution as you, and I suppose I could follow manually through the install.sh script and any other scripts it calls, and figure out everything it installs. It might take a few hours.

If you want to hire our administration service to do that for you, please contact me at the address or telephone number below.

Much easier and probably much cheaper, to reinstall your OS Distribution.

Hello,

We don't have a script to uninstall DA.

The rpms can be easily removed with the "rpm -e" command, but for compiled software like apache, shutting it off is about as effective. It won't do any harm to sit on your disk deactivated.

If you want a list of all files that DA will "touch" .. the list is here:
http://www.directadmin.com/paths.html
just keep in mind that those are the file that DA accesses, it doesn't mean they all belong to DA. For example, the /etc/passwd file is user user user accounts.. DA accesses it (indirectly).. but you wouldn't want to delete it ;)
Also, the paths slightly vary on other OS's, like the named.conf.

It sounds like a good idea, but actually directadmin does not use rpm to install various modules (apache, php and many others which we don't aware of). It compiles everything from sources, puts into different locations, but it does not use RPM to install them. Is it right?

Thus, I cannot simply use "rmp -e" to remove appropriate modules. And the situation becoms much more difficult then we thought before. Any other suggestions how to uninstall all the modules?

Why is why most of us recommend a complete reinstall.
