IF I add only my linked IPV6 site addresses at the registrar, will they resolve, or do I need to make A entries as well as AAAA? Read for hours and am still unsure. Seems to defeat the purpose of IP6 to have to use ip4's.
1. "linked" ? do you mean the linking it at IP section in DA panel?
2. It would not resolve if you don't have no AAAA + A entry's in your DNS (depends if you use yours or provider NS)
You do not need an A-record if your IPv6 address is linked. An AAAA-record will suffice for the registrar that handles your primary nameserver. By linking your IPv6 address to your IPv4 address the server just knows that it needs to handle both IP addresses for all users that use that specific IPv4 address.
Don't forget set check the boxes that say "Add to DNS" and "Add to Apache" while linking the IPv6 address. With these options checked DirectAdmin will automatically add the IPv6 address in the servers internal DNS entries and the Apache configuration. Once set there is no need to use an IPv4 address any more to communicate with your server.
Please note that DirectAdmin's own nameserver does need the IPv4 address. So do not delete them from the internal nameserver records.
