I think DirectAdmin need to change the design of the home page.

Someday DirectAdmin change the design of the home page?
We all know today the design is important.
And many do not prove DirectAdmin because the design of the main page is dodgy.
It's so hard to create a design for the web?
do not think it's necessary?
The home page is the first impression of DirectAdmin.
 
Note, I do not work for Directadmin, and I've never felt bad about its looking. I doubt that customers of our company choose us depending on how DirectAdmin home page looks like. As for internal skin, we've modified it for our own needs, the same you can do, or even buy a 3rd party skin.

Do not compare open source software with commercial software.
Show me commercial software sites. without design and have success.
 
I suppose he was comparing working/popular project with some commercial that are not so used...

And.. i would add... if you dont like how it look, no one deny you to make your own one or buy an 3rd party one.

I suppose, and this is just my opinion, that the stability of the system and the functionality is much more important of everything. Keep in mind that i use Capri Skin cause ofc look better and customers prefer that (at least untill i got the website working and totally integrated with DA)...

Note, I'm not going to persuade you, or make you to change your mind. I just describe the situation in a way, how I see it. And my point of view was formed under influence of what I've read here before from official staff and other members of these forums.

Andrea is right. The choice is made to a free software, they would not cry about lack of popularity of their designs.

Of course, design something matters. And sometimes I choose a company depending on their site and looking. But in my opinion (which does not pretend to be the only true one), if a product is really bad (low functionality, full of bugs) none super modern design would help to sell it more for any long period of time.
 
I like DirectAdmin,
I just said that DirectAdmin will sell more if renew the design of homepage.
 
It might be a good idea indeed. But just to have a fresher and a bit more professional look, instead of the 90's look it has now.

Clients who are looking for a panel choose it for it's functions and support etc. They compare the 3 commercial panels based on that, not on the website.
However, a bit more professional website look, could give also a bit more professional impression to customers, I agree with you there.

But in this specific case I don't expect sales to arise.
