I think i messed up ....

I am new to the forums, i just installed DA like yesterday, i installed based off the install guide provide on DA site. The install went smooth, however it changed and deleted alot of stuff on my server (mysql, php, apache, bind, ect ..)

I was able to get my old httpd.conf file loaded after taking the steps to upgrade apache to version 2.x.

I also Upgraded Mysql to version 5.x.
Currently i am running php4 which i would like to upgrade to php5 in the near future..

anyways to the point, after i got the sql databases resetup and all got SOME of my clients sites back up i wanted to proceed in setting up DA for my web clients to use as their control panel. ie: cpanel

i'm having a hard time with understanding how to setup thing, do i setup a reseller account for myself and then add user that way... or what ?

in my dns/ip's i get nothing and when i try to add a ip it says its already added to the interface.

i try to add a user (one of my current clients) it states the user already exists although when i choose to "view all users" it shows only "admin" as i am under the impression is the admin account for DA...

I am really at a lost here maybe i installed wrong... not sure....

what can i do to recover all my clients and get DA setup to work for me ?

You are better off going to the manuals for instructions on HowTo with DA: Go to: http://www.directadmin.com/support.html scroll down and find "Manuals / Documentation" and follow the links.

Yes i am aware of the docs. i have tried to understand it, i read through the docs and searched the knowledge database, also search through these forums before i made my first post, the docs are helpful to a certain point but i don't understand y it is that i can't add any of my cleints (DA states the user already exist). Just a simple instructions how it works exactly would be helpful.
