imap squirrelmail issue

Hi,

I have centos 5 with DirectAdmin v.1.31.0

I don't have dovecot as imap just some imapd executable running as xinetd.

Everything was working fine until today(no changes were made). When I access squirrelmail and try to login, the load on the server gets high and is caused by the imapd process. After some time I receive this in squirrel mail:
ERROR:
ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
Query: SELECT "INBOX"

ERROR:
ERROR: Connection dropped by IMAP server.
Query: STATUS "INBOX" (MESSAGES UNSEEN RECENT)


How do I fix this and what is causing the issue?

You've probably got a huge mbox file which times out the server before it all gets read.

Probably your best bet is to convert to Dovecot.
