incorrect admin password

1 of our servers does the API not work.

In debug mode i get the error:
password was incorrect: admin

The password is 100% correct, I can login normally with the password as user admin in directadmin.

I restarted directadmin and updated the pass manually (passwd admin), but still same API error, DA itself works perfectly.
The server runs the latest DA version.

The API script does not have an error, this script is used on several hunderds of servers we host and works fine on all these DA servers, only not on this server.

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong here?

Have you tried resetting the password through the DirectAdmin interface?
