I keep getting this message:

directadmin: initauthconf: unable to open file: /etc/auth.conf

Any idea what this means and how to fix?

tnx

What system OS is this?
And did you install Hylafax or something? Because normally there is no /etc/auth.conf present on a DA installation.
Maybe you find a solution here?

This is a freebsd 9.1 system, with just the directadmin installed things on it, thanks for your help!

Hello,

When is the error being genreated? Is it during DA User creation?
DA itself wouldn't touch the file.. but it's possible something DA is calling needs it (not too sure)

John, the error seems to be created all the time, when I log in on the console, it continually gives this errormessage

On reboot I see the following error messages:

exim abandoned: unknown, malformed, or incomplete option -L

starting directadmin [ok]
starting exim [ok]
starting httpd [ok]
starting mysqld [ok]
starting proftpd [ok]
starting DA-PopB4Smtp [ok]
starting dovecot [ok]

then it shows message:
jan 4 09:25:01 xxxx named[1027]: the working directory is not writable
jan 4 09:25:31 xxxx directadmin: initauthconf: unable to open file: /etc/auth.conf
jan 4 09:25:38 xxxx last message repeated 26 times
jan 4 09:31:11 xxxx directadmin: inintauthconf: unable to open file: /etc/auth.conf

thanks
