Installing pecl_http gives and error

I am trying to install pecl_http using the plugin manager, however, when selecting install I get the message:

No install.sh script was found. Script not executed.
Error with install script


How can I get around this and install pecl_http on Centos 5.6

/usr/local/php5/bin/pecl install pecl_http
