We have not yet created any resellers in our server. All the domains are under the ownership of admin. For a domain, we have given a dedicated IP (not given via control panel) in the apache conf file and installed SSL for it.

Now the problem is, when we create a sub domain for that domain, it changes the IP address to the default server IP and the site no longer works  On browsing the threads I could find that we have to assign an IP to the Reseller first and then to user through control panel.

Can any one help me through the steps to move an account currently under admin ownership to a reseller account and assign it a dedicated IP. I'm not sure whether we can change the ownership of an account from admin to a reseller without data loss.

assign the ip to the reseller (in your case probably admin)
Then with that reseller while creating the user account, select the whished ip from the drop-down list.

From then that user account has his own owned ip.

Thankx Duboux :)

I understood how to assign an IP to a new user. But in my case, I would like to change the IP of an existing domain.

I assigned the IP to the admin. Can you please help in changing th IP of existing domain.

Well,

make sure the ip u want to assign to that user, is being assigned to u as reseller (admin).

Then edit the user (where you can change his amount of mb's and emails) and there you see the dropdownlist with the ip's again.
Select the ip you whish, and it's set.

But I cannot find any user for that domain. I could find only "admin" on clicking " Show All Users" in Admin panel. Do I have to create a new user for the existing domain??

Is the domain created in the admin's user-level control panel? if so, then you're not going to be able to change the IP#.

Does the new feature for moving domains between resellers work for the admin's user-level domain? If so, use it to move the domain to a different reseller. But I don't think it does.

In which case, I'd suggest backing up the user, then delete it and restore it under a reseller.

Thanks Jeff and Duboux :)

I created backup and deleted the domain. Created a user for this domain and restored it. Its working fine now. Thanks again ;)
