I know that directadmin as a control panel can black list IP's after so much attempts to login. However, I would like to request that this feature be implemented to the user level so that a user may block an IP that could be downloading alot of content, or is "banned" from a site.

thanks
matt

I've moved the thread to Feedback & Feature Requests, where it makes more sense.

If no one responds, then it may be that no one shares your interest.

In any event, unless you get a response from a DA staffer letting us know it's being added, it probably isn't.

I think it could be done as a plugin, but I wouldn't do it unless there was some interest in it as a commercial plugin.

I share the interest as well. I even though I fixed some php mailing scripts, I still get scumbags trying to spam on them. Now I can track their IP address, but it would be nice to block them from even accessing my site.

That post blocks people attempting to log in to DA.

If you're using linux you can run APF+BFD as yoaur firewall.

I still think and believe an option to block IP's via each user would be a nice plugin. I would pay to have someone develop such a script.

I have the hotlink plugin, and will contact the auther to see if it is all right to use some of his code. All you would have to do is re-write the htaccess with the IP's, and when in the plugin, pull from it so a list will display.

add the entry into IPTables or use APF/BFD and that should take care of it.

Currently we use .htaccess to block certain IP ranges and addresses. But being a user control panel, I would like to simplify this for our customers.

Its still just a suggestion

damn people quit saying apf this and apf that. From what I read they are looking for an ip deny type plugin for user level which I think would be a great idea.

So you cant use apf unless you wanna give all your users root to your server to do so. i didnt think so.

So yeah and IP deny plugin would be real nice, almost every other control panel has it, its time for directadmin to have it

All someone needs to do is create a plugin to add deny from lines to a users webroot level .htaccess file.

I'm working on this plugin and its almost finished :)

any progress?
seems the kiddie scripters are out in hoards and how to effectively suppress them from messing up sites, have had 2 sites in the past 3 weeks get hit, took it up with the script developer and just point fingers at someone else.
what the chance some one here can help users like us protect our servers as much as possible with a mod or plug in , something easier for us that dont know Linux.
You speak of APF/BFD, but dont know that
running 2 DA severs now and in process of adding 2 more here shortly
