Issue with Free License Limits

Hello,

I purchased a free license last year and imported my cpanel backup from another provider. I've used directadmin ever since 2009 in a previous company I owned.

I renewed my free license (for a personal project) and attempted to add a MySQL database. The system told me I was over my limit for users, which is not making much sense because I only have one user outside of "admin" which was precreated.

My question is:
* Why will DA not allow me to add MySQL databases, but I can add/manipulate other areas?
* Why did DA allow me to create a condition where I was violating my license?
* Without support for the free edition, what could the community do to help?

Also DA staff, the website shows "[email protected]" under the contact page. I emailed that for support, then Mark told me to open a ticket, which then I was told to use the forums because it's a free version. The confirmation email for the forums was in the Junk folder for O365 by default, also a little concerning.

It's a little frustrating to have the software allow such a condition (bug?), then be unable to have any help with it (even though its not something I have done)

If I can't get this resolved in a few days I'll just convert everything back to ansible for the stack and be done with it. If anyone has noticed this issue, please let me know, I am getting a little tired of wasting time on the software.

There is no Free license. That was something you got from server reseller maybe. OR do you mean Trial?
I renewed my free license
With who?

Buying from a Reseller?

You do not own a license unless you have purchased it through our directadmin.com website. Note that our terms and conditions do not allow license reselling unless you are leasing it from a server provider with a server. If you do not receive a server with your license payment to the Reseller, then your license violates our terms and conditions. Only the owner of the license with a valid clients login can modify a license.

If you head over to the Pricing page https://www.directadmin.com/pricing.php
you will see the options.

I assume you are speaking of a Personal license. Admin is the 1 user.

I was told to use the forums because it's a free version.
Again No free versions.

It all on the pricing page
PERSONAL
$ 2 /month
The DirectAdmin Personal license is perfect for personal or small-business use that requires only a single account to manage up to 10 domains.

My apologies, replace the word free with "personal" above. I have a personal license and paid the nominal fee.

The import of my cpanel backup created the additional user. Why would the software allow this to happen? What do I need to do to resolve it?

I'll try to merge the existing account into admin. What's not immediately clear is why the software allowed me to get in this state anyway. I'll fiddle with it for a bit and ask for a refund if it becomes too much of a pain. Thanks for the links.

Yeah I dont know. I do know people have trouble with understanding that Admin is the one user.

Hope it goes well for $24 dollars a year you cant beat it.

It can't be all 100% foolproof. However they try to make it that way as far as possible, same for the importer. However this happens once a while.

When you know how to dump a database, it should be to hard to create a good backup. If you succeed deleting the user account from the system, it shouldn't be hard to restore the database and website in admins user level.

As Brent already said, the personal license is very much worth it's while and there is no other of the professional panels which has such license.
