My Directadmin box stopped responding this morning. Its running on Fedora 2 release. It had whats called in the Windows world "the blue screen of death". Is there anyway to setup the Linux kernal so it automatically reboots when this happens?

In a word, NOPE.

A kernel crash is what occurs when the kernel can no longer follow instructions.

That's when remote AC switches come in handy; we started installing them in our cabinets a few years ago, and when every once in a while we need 'em, it's nice to have 'em.

My feelings are that if your OS crashes, you either have a hardware problem, or your OS is rubbish. On good hardware, I have never had a RedHat 7.x system or FreeBSD 4.x system crash, and would never expect to. Having said that, in a co-location environment I believe a remote AC switch or a "remote-hands" contract with the data-center is an absolute must - either one is cheap insurance.

Cheers...

If I had to guess its flaky DDR RAM since I got it pretty cheap and one of the two sticks was already removed due to bootup problems. I have ordered a stick of Viking memory which I have always had good luck with but paid more for.

Here is the docs on the watchdog in our Linux based routers though.
