Hello I'm a newbie,
I have uninstalled csf/lfd from DA, but service monitor there is always this:

lfd Process is stopped Start Stop Restart Reload

how I can remove it ?

thanks in advance for your help

Remove lfd line from /usr/local/directadmin/data/admin/services.status.

thank you very much, problem fixed.

Can you suggest me a very very simple firewall from to install on vps centos 5, for stop or mitigate flood and ddos, csf has created many problem for me, it has blocked totaly my vps.

CSF works great, you just have to follow the directions and turn off or adjust what you need.

Hi R1Lover,
before that I had the problem with csf,
I had this problem, (maybe this is the cause of all problems, now is solved):
"2009:08:01-17:06:11: Unable to read the license file" (this is only a part of the log),

I have tested csf in test mode and everything worked fine,

after I have changed this setting TESTING = "1" to TESTING = "0",
I clicked on "change" csf ask to restart csf/lfd, from now after that I clicked on restart csf/lfd are started all the problems, for long time the page not reload, then
vps unreachable, all unreachable.

Can the license problem have caused that ?

If your license is not valid then yes.

Do you have a valid license?

Did you install CSF with the direct admin configuration?

Yes now I have a valid license,
do you think that I can try to reinstall csf ?

I personally use it on all my servers, I have no issues with it at all. If it was me I would give it a try again.

R1Lover'
you may be our best help then, can you tell why lfd will not start?
two places in panel to do it, in CofigServer GUI and I see it under Service Monitor, but it wont start, if I hit "Reload" I get an error
An error has occurred
Details
/sbin/service lfd reload 2>&1

I personally use it on all my servers, I have no issues with it at all. If it was me I would give it a try again.

Is there any more detail in the message log file or other error log?

Thanks R1Lover
log is completely empty.
right after install I went to ConfigServer GUI and looked around, one thing I did was to click the button "lfd log", it gave error saying "no such file" so I created file in var/log, but it is always empty
so far haven't seen any other logs with info as to why, but will be searching more today

This is only a WAG, but you may have broken functionality when you created the log file. Delete it and wait for the system to create it.

Give it at least overnight.

Jeff

Trying that, did it at 9:00PM (just after you replied) so far nothing at 5:00 AM this morning.
My WAG :D is perhaps something didn't get installed correctly or at all.
error says this
tail: cannot open `/var/log/lfd.log' for reading: No such file or directory
Asked Chirpy too, no answer as of yet.
This looks very good. a little bit of a learning curve to get to know it, csf seems to work fine, just lfd that is unresponsive

Thanks smtalk !
even thou lfd can be disabled from the configuration of ConfigServer, still DA will wants to report that it is down and cant restart it
now opposed to removing the line
lfd=ON
will lfd=OFF work as well?, I am assuming it would, or is it better to just remove that line...

Remove lfd line from /usr/local/directadmin/data/admin/services.status.

lfd=OFF will do the same, the difference is that you will see it in the services list.

Sufficient enough with removing it from boot loader.
+ Check cron tasks for it, whether exists any.
