Hi all,
I have a VPS and since a few days a get the following error on my DirectAdmin installation :

Code:
This is an automated message notifying you that an error has occurred while trying to update the license file.
The generated message is as follows:

New License is invalid: Unable to read the contents of the license<br>
<br>

Please contact JBMC-Software, including the error message. Failure to do so could result in an inactive control panel.

When i follow the page http://help.directadmin.com/item.php?id=29 i get stuck on the point where you have to extract update.tar.gz. When i done this i get the following error :

Code:
gzip: stdin: not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status 1
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Even running "head -n 1 update.tar.gz" doesn't solve my problem as i get the warning that i am not allowed to run that program.

is there someone who could helpe me with this?

Kind regards,
jeroen.

Are you logged in as the root user? Can you show what head -1 update.tar.gz says.

What to do now!?

That depends on where you got your DirectAdmin license. If it came with your VPS, then you need to contact your vendor's support desk. If you bought it from DirectAdmin you need to contact DirectAdmin Support. If you bought it from someone else you may have bought an invalid license as no one else is allowed to sell DirectAdmin; if that's your situation you should contact DirectAdmin Sales.
