Hello,

I've a question about mail fallback.

For our mailboxen we wann to use a mailfalback. Can we used a another DA machine fot mail fallback fora few mailaccounts?

How can we do that?

You can, but you'd have to do a custom exim.conf file, and you'd have to have multiple MX records. You really don't need DirectAdmin to do this.

It would be nice to have something like the DNS transfer so if you add a domain to machine1 it get's automatically added to the exim configuration of machine2 so machine2 is able to act as a mail fallback server for machine1 in case of emergencies.

Sure. And it would be a much more complex exim.conf file than exists now.

Care to write it :) ?

Jeff

Maybe we could dig into that if we you're interested to implement it within the current exim.conf. Don't know if I have time in the immediate though.

It can get very complex because you have to treat foreign domains differently than you treat local domains; for example how would you check to make sure the usernames exist before existing the mail? Would you SpamScan it on the main machine? Or what you call the fallback machine? What about virus checking? What about SpamBlocker testing?
