I'll preface my first post by saying I'm in no way learned with regard to mail programs, I recently switched servers from a cpanel to direct and was previously using Horde.
My issue is twofold, I installed Mozilla Thunderbird and can receive mail, but cannot send (firmiliar story right). I've gotten the smtp authentication settings from my host, I've read the forums at Mozilla and tried many different configurations, but am having no luck. I'm also not certain where to locate my settings on the server, I fear it may be related to that.
I've also set up squirrelmail as it came with the host (I realize they are third party pay suport), and can send mail but I'm only receiving spam, no other incoming mail is showing up. So subsequently I'm receiving mail to thunderbird and replying using squirrelmail, not exactly the most conveinient procedure.
So my questions would be 1/How do I check my server settings to make them right with the smtp settings I have on thunderbird. 2/Is there another webmail program recommended that can be installed that could satisfy all of my mail needs? 3/How and where do I dig into the squirrel files to fix the incoming issue, I've tried the Maildir folder but find nothing that I can relate it to. 4/Should I contact my ISP (earthlink) to see if there are settings from them that are blocking my outgoing settings?
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction, I'm looking for a better and more direct way to trouble shoot this and then resolve it, hopefully soon.
Thank you for your time.
