Hello,

I've just installed DirectAdmin.
When DA is sending a welcome message to an client the mail is bounced because the sender is diradmin@domain without the toplevel domain.
Its should be [email protected] does anyone know where to set the toplevel domain?
If it had an tld i could make an A dns entry for that domain.
In the admin settings stands domain.tld also in the host file.

does anyone has an solution?

Thanx!

Regards Dave

Could you give us the exact error, whats located in the email logs, and email itself? Without this we can't help you.

When jou go to mail qeue there stands recpient(s) : diradmin@domain with out TLD.

When we look in the mail header there stands:
The mail is bounced because there is no TLD

Thanx!

Hello,

I found it myself:

In the exim config i added this rule primary_hostname = domain.tld

Now it is working.

Thanx.

Dave

Generally if your hostname is set correctly you shouldn't need this setting.

See Edit#1 location in my README FILE (nobaloney.net).

Jeff

In the exim config i added this rule primary_hostname = domain.tld

And now you are faking your hostname for the mailserver. The mailserver is going to say your hostname is one thing but it is actually another.

This means that likely the reverse dns for the ip and the hostame dns records will not match and at some point you will have trouble sending mail especially craigslist where they require the records to match.
