Mail server on a different host

I have the mail server for one of our "packages" on a mail server that's not on the direct admin machine. Is there a way I can setup the accounts so I don't have to modify the MX records for the domain to point to the other host? Essentially, I want one package to not have any email servers on DA.

The only way I can think of doing it would be to write a script as a post-user-creation script that would check the package name, and manually make changes the zone file depending on the package name.

I'm not sure if you've got enough control to do it, but it's the first place I'd look.
