Mailbox Cleaner

Hi,

I am currently looking to make a cleanup function for clients their emailboxxes. What id like to do is auto-cleanup people their emailboxxes for messages that are older then for example 60 days. A lot of our costumers do not pickup their email at all and keeps stored on the hdd's. If you have a few costumers who do this sure, but allmost 80% of our emailboxxes are fully filled with JUNK/old mail.

I have tried looking into this but havent found anything reliable/safe. I basically want to delete every email in any emailbox on a daily basis that is older then 60 days. Any one have a "reasonable" idea?

First Idea:
Don't do it. One of these days you're going to delete an important email from someone's account. Note that some of your clients may be using IMAP which stores all email on your server so that people can check their account even when they're not at their own computer.

Second Idea:
Switch to Dovecot/Maildir if you're not already using it, and delete emails based on the date of the individual email file in the Maildir directory. If you really must do this be sure to delete all the Dovecot index files whenever you manually delete an email.
