Maximum execution time exceeded

I upgraded to php5 and now one of my reseller baackups is getting this error.
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 120 seconds exceeded in /usr/local/directadmin/- on line 37

I think this has to do with php.ini settings.

Can anyone suggest how many seconds this setting should be or a better way to solve this problem.

I changed max_input_time = 300 in /usr/local/lib/php.ini to 300 and now backups are not timing out.
