Migrating Accounts from One DirectAdmin Server to Another

Hello,

We are using DirectAdmin version 1.668 and need to transfer around 30 user accounts (220GB total) from one server to another. Currently, the method I know for transferring accounts is to download a backup via SFTP from the source server, then upload it to the destination server. After that, we would change the nameservers and make the necessary updates.

I also noticed an option under Admin Tools for "Backup Restore/Transfer" in DirectAdmin. We haven't used the transfer option before, but I’m considering trying it for this migration.

My question is: What would be the most efficient way to transfer this number of users (with their data) from one server to another in DirectAdmin? Are there any other methods or tips we should consider for a smoother migration?

Thank you!

Hello
I would suggest searching the forums as this question has already passed by very often.
Shortly said, there is the Admin backup/transfer option, which in facts also makes backups, but with 220GB this can take long.

You can also choose to only use webdata and rsync mail. Or only transfer accounts and then rsync the rest.
Check this thread:

Check what is having the biggest amount of data. If it's mail then it might work smoother to only backup everything without mail and rsync mail after account restoration.

Hello,

Thank you for your helpful response! I will definitely look into the Admin backup/transfer option as well as the suggestion to use rsync for mail.
