I don't know whether or not this isuue has been already covered as I was not able to find anything using the Search option. I also don't know whether this thread is in the right place (considering that I am a user of an account provided to me by my institute with admin privaleges).

Anywho, I was just wondering if it was possible to make the scrollbars show when viewing files in the filemanager. Somehow they do not appear... Making it nearly impossible to get to the files I need for my website.

I'd call it a user-level difficulty; I believe you're in the right place.

It might be some kind of compatibility with your browser, if you're sure you've opened up your browser window wide enough.

I just tried using the file manager to read a large html file, and my scrollbars appeared properly; I'm using mozilla 3.5.6 on kubuntu 9.10.

What OS are you using? What browser?

Perhaps with more information you may get some responses.

I was hoping you would ask, thanks for your response btw:

i rarely like asking for help (being DIY) so i tried a series of tests but now im stuck between a rock an a hard place.

First i used windows 7 (my laptop os)

primarily I tested it on the standard Internet Explorer 8 but it seemed like the window just didn't have any scrollbars, as if the browser was treating the site as a pop-up window (no scrollbars, no "alt" key options, etc.) I thought i could solve the issue by using a different browser. i tried out firefox 3.5.6 (same as you) have but still, it was being treated as an ad window. Strangely enough, all this was before our school upgraded the server client. I don't know what version it was before but the previous version showed the scrolling and everything worked well.

then i resorted to trying it on the mac (at my school). i tried it on their default firefox 3.5.7 and still no avail. I tried maximizing it, resizing it. but nothing, no scrollbars. Maybe i am doing something wrong? BTW this issue is consistent in every option of the gui. The minute I open up my webspace the scrollbars dissappear... i do admit that i didn't try kubuntu since i didnt need to in the past versions.

I have no idea what you mean by server client. I have no idea why you're having the problem. Grab a ubuntu (or kubuntu, which is what I use) live disk, and see if it works for you.

Sorry for the delay. Had to move into a new place.

It seemed that my client just needed to be finished up. The tech guys at the school fixed it. Thanks anyway.
