More universal 2-step auth

I just read about the new "Security Questions" feature and while it's a nice extra layer of protection, I'd rather have a more standard 2 factor auth system in place using something like Google Authenticator. It's what banking institutions use and it's kind of universal.

Every mobile platform has a compatible temp pin generator (not necessarily from Google).
 
Two factor authentication is important

I would like to bring this thread back to know if there are news about this feature request. This feature has been part of other systems for a while (like WHCMS, that lot of hosting companies use).
I think this second layer (or shield) of protection is a must in this days.

I use 2 factor auth. everywhere these days.
