move to new server with old license

Hi,

I tried to look for an anwser but could not find a anwser that i could trust/use...

I have a old Directadmin server. i need to move it to a new server because it got hacked.

I know you could get a trial license for 60 days.. but if i remember correctly there was a issue if you have a old lifetime license.

Could i:

a: give the old server a trial license (very old software) and the new server the Lifetime? and move the websites over?
or
b: give the new server a trial, move the websites and then move the license from trial to the old license system?

a - no,
b - no (new codebase can't be downgraded)
c - create backups on old, install new with old license, move backups and restore them

ah, clear thank you! then my data i found was not correct. I will try option C

Be aware, shortly after you enable the old license on the new server, the DA GUI on the old server will stop working.
So I would suggest to move the backups to the new server first, before changing license.
You can reach the old server via SSH at any time and applications will keep running.
