I have a couple new servers I am putting in and having a couple problems.

One problem is I am doing an admin backup on one server and restoring it on another. I delete the site on the old server, restore it on the new server, but the zone information is not transferring to the original server. Does restoring a site classify as a zone transfer for Multi Server?

Also I have one server that is not transferring any information. Is there a log besides errortaskq.log (which just shows named was rewritten) but nothing about failures in the transfer of the zones? I've done the connection test and it says OK. It's working on all of the other DirectAdmin servers I have, just one new one isnt transferring anything. (Not the same server as problem #1)

It's hard to understand exactly what you mean. If example.com is on server1 it's a local zone.

When you move it to server2 and it installs there, does the DNS system show it as a local domain? I believe the proper way to do this is to remove the multi-server link between the two servers before moving the domains and re-establishing it afterwards, but it's too late for that now.

When you removed the domain from server1 it should have been removed because it's a local zone. So the first thing to do is check to see if the zone is listed on server1. It's likely not.

Do you have server2 set up to copy over local domains to server1? If so, and if the zone file for example.com is on server2, then you may be able to restore the relationship by removing and then reinstalling the links between the servers on both servers.

You can google for more information on moving domains between servers set up for multi-server option.

Check to make sure your password is set correctly and that the server with the problem allows both incoming and outgoing traffic on port 53.
