Multi-Server Set-Up?

Hi.

Recently my host and I have been thinking about adding another server so that I can use my current dedicated server for MySQL and the new server for web, which would improve load balancing.

I know DirectAdmin has a built-in function for multi-server set up, but how does this work? Can I manage both servers through the new server if I assign the old server in the multi-server set-up? I'd like to be able to manage both servers through one DirectAdmin control panel, and connect to MySQL on the old server through sites on the new server.

The new server is going to be the web server primarily, while the old server will be the MySQL server, and eventually I'll be able to add on web servers when my sites need it.

Please help me because I am really confused at how all this will work. I just want to use one server for MySQL and the other for web but I want one control panel to manage everything and I don't know if the multi-server function will do it.

Also will IP addresses be shared because my old server has a few IP addresses and so does my new one. Please help. :(

Please forgive me because I really don't know how to do this or how it will work because I transferred my sites from my old server to the new one since the new one will be for web and old will be for MySQL only..

So for databases will I have to make separate usernames and passwords for each database on MySQL server? Please tell me there is an easy way to do all of this in DirectAdmin.

While you can put MySQL on it's own server, DirectAdmin does nothing to implement it. The implementation is entirely up to you. DirectAdmin's multi-server option only implements DNS across multiple servers; nothing else.
