i wonder; what exactly is the purpose of multi server setup?

first i thought it would send traffic between several servers and at the end i discovered it only shares DNS settings

would there also be a possibility to share resources between 2 servers or route users to one or another in rush hours?

So is there any way to share traffic between 2 servers with DA?

maybe having the same domain on 2 servers (1 dns pointing to each)?

Poor man's load balancing; it takes advantage of the fact that your desktop queries all nameservers and accepts the first response it gets...

Host on two servers. Each server has a dns zonefile with the A records pointing to itself.

Use those two DNS servers at your registrar.

Don't forget to run any MySQL on only one of the servers. Run email on only one of the servers.

This is what I want can you give more details

have 3 servers, not concerned about paying for directadmin for each.

The only point is to separate services and have directadmin control of them.

I DO Want 1 server for email only!

Prefer i think?? other two were for hosted accounts with a separate DB for each, however in your experience is this best to get maximum usage from the servers??

In other words can I run more accounts with one server only with mysql?? or better with each having mysql??

I could install directadmin on each with all services, if it was best method. I really need some nobaloney help on this and you seem to be up on what directadmin can and can no do!

Also if there are other drawbacks to either method susch as losing directadmin control of the databases etc. I sure would like to know now..

have to set up servers as soon as possible and hoping for your feeedback, sure so not want to make a mistake in the setup... freebsd on 64 bit AMD

If you want support from me, from JBMC (publishers of DirectAdmin) or anyone else, your best bet would to run DirectAdmin as it's made to be run: with completely independent servers, except of course for multiserver DNS.

What does that mean?

It means that DirectAdmin is meant to be run on the server it controls, and that except for DNS (which DirectAdmin can control over multiple servers) you should not spread services across services using some proprietary method of your own, and expect good support.

Why?

Because you're using DirectAdmin differently from how it was designed to be used, and from how many of the rest of us use it.
